School

Inclusive education is a fundamental human right of every child and young person, but it is still not guaranteed to all, not even in Italy. The school to which all students are entitled, including those with Down syndrome and other disabilities, is a place that respects and values diversity and prepares all students to be members of communities. Forty years of scientific research shows that children with intellectual disabilities achieve more academically and socially when they are educated together with their peers without disabilities, and that studying in an inclusive environment helps develop the mutual respect, understanding and skills we all need to live together in today’s diverse communities.
